El segundo día de la edición 2016 de la Semana de Buenos Aires amaneció nublado y gris. Eso no impidió que los cuatrocientos optimistas (nunca antes tan bien usada esta palabra en todos sus sentidos) armaran sus barcos desde temprano.
A las 9 de la mañana se dio la señal de salida y los Timoneles y Principiantes bajaron raudamente a pesar de la leve llovizna que comenzó a caer.
Un poco más tarde partieron las tres categorías de Laser y los siguieron prolijamente los 420 y Cadet. Mientras tanto salían los Conte24, Match30, J24 y OD27, que al ya estar en el agua… se van navegando tranquilamente. Unos minutos después se fueron los 29er y los F18.
Bajo la incesante llovizna partieron todos a correr sus regatas. Las regatas de las clases Moth y 2.4 MR fueron suspendidas por decisión de la Comisión de Regatas dadas las poco amables condiciones climáticas.
A pesar de la lluvia, el viento nunca se fue y se mantuvo en una muy buena intensidad y dirección, por lo cual se completaron varias regatas para cada clase.
“A nivel local este es decididamente el campeonato más importante del año” dijo Juan José Mayer que junto con Nicole Hovassapian está corriendo en la clase 29er. “Vinieron de Rosario, de Uruguay, de Chile. Es un campeonato en el que corren 30 barcos y hay muy buen nivel”
“Fue un día muy lindo. No por las lluvias y eso, pero el viento ayudó. Había una buena ola para barrenar. Está bueno que hay una linda cantidad de barcos, las regatas son entretenidas, están todos los barcos juntos. Tenemos barcos de Chile y Uruguay, más la flota argentina hay arriba de 30 barcos” declaró Martín Cloos, navegante de 420.
Facundo Roure, Facundo Perez Quinteros y Francisca Volpe, navegantes uruguayos de la clase Cadet, contaron que nunca corren con tantos barcos. Ya participaron varias veces la Semana de Buenos Aires y a fin de año participarán del Campeonato Mundial en Argentina, por lo que consideran este evento como buena preparación.

El sábado que viene continuará el certamen, sumando las clases Snipe, Soling, Soto33 y Grumete.

The second day of the Semana de Buenos Aires 2016 started off cloudy and grey. However, that was not an obstacle for the four hundred optisailors who began working on their boats very early.
They were the first ones to be launched at 9 am, despite the soft rain that started while they were going on to the water.
A little bit later the three Laser categories were released followed shortly by the 420s and the Cadets. At the same time the Conte24, Match30, J24 and OD27 sailed out, but as they are already on the water they simply sailed away avoiding the mess. Minutes later the 29ers and the F18s were also launched.
The classes Moth and 2.4MR races were suspended because of the weather conditions.
Regardless of the rain the wind kept steady so every class could complete several races.
“Locally this is certainly the most important championship of the year” said Juan José Mayer, 29er sailor. “We have sailors from Rosario, Uruguay and Chile. There are more than 30 boats and the level is very good!”
“It was a good day. Not because of the rain or that, but the wind helped. We had a cool wave for ‘surfing’. We have a lot of boats and during the races they keep close to each other, making the races very entertaining. There are crews from Chile and Uruguay, so if we add the Argentinean fleet we have over 30 boats” stated Martin Cloos, 420 sailor.
Facundo Roure, Facundo Perez Quintero y Francisca Volpe, uruguayan sailors from the Cadet Class, said that they are not used to sailing with so many boats. They already took part in several Semana de Buenos Aires and will join the World Championship in Argentina at the end of this year so they consider this event as a splendid preparation.
The event will continue next Saturday but we also will be adding the following classes: Snipe, Grumete, Soling and Soto33.
